The publishing line is a mirage.

The publishing line is a mirage.

Authors are always trying to “get the thing out there,” believing that when they finally hit publish, it’ll generate huge buzz and that every opportunity they’ve been waiting for will come knocking.

The painful reality?

Publishing is only the beginning.

Too often, we confuse rushing with speed.

I see this all the time—authors racing to the finish line, trying to publish as quickly as possible.

But rushing? It leads to shortcuts, burnout, and missed details.

Speed with strategy, though?

That’s where real growth happens.

I like to put different ideas out to my community to test if there’s demand before I dive in and build.

And as I build, I share my progress—the wins, the lessons, and the mistakes.

Building in public keeps me moving fast and with purpose.

Here’s the difference:
#1 Rushing is all about getting things done ASAP. It’s reactive.

#2 Speed with strategy is about timing—being efficient and intentional.

#3 Patience is the hidden power. It’s about giving yourself space to think ahead and align with your goals.

Rushing says, ‘I need it now.’

Speed says, ‘I’m ready when the time’s right.’

And patience? ‘I know what I’m building.’

For me, sharing each step keeps my process real, fast, and effective.

Every move builds momentum, and that’s how you win in the long run.

Where could you bring more intention and patience to your own work?
