Step-by-step guide to increase income for authors

Most authors can't tell me what they're actually selling, its a wild mixture of things duct taped together. Not always, but most of the time.

I ask an author what they want the book to do for them, and I get a version of "I want it to open doors." So I ask which doors, and what it costs to walk through one, and what happens the day someone actually knocks, and the answer is usually a long pause.

The book is done, the launch is over, and there's nothing on the other side of it for anyone to buy, book, or say yes to. Then a year goes by and the author decides marketing doesn't work.

I put together a full training on exactly this, and it's the same framework I used to turn my own book into speaking work and, eventually, into Rising Authors. It comes down to three things that have to work together.

The three pieces

Your offer. This is what you actually want the book to produce, whether that's keynotes, consulting, coaching, or workshops, and what it costs. You can have more than one, but every one of them needs a system behind it, meaning how someone finds you, how they reach out, what they get back, and what the templates look like. My friend Michael charges over 200k for consulting, so he needs a handful of the right people, and his site is built to find them. Mark runs a laundromat and wrote the book on running laundromats, and now he sells a mentorship program to other owners off the back of it. Both of them are painfully clear about what they do.

Your packaging. This is what happens when someone Googles you. Your website, your LinkedIn, your photos, your testimonials, and whether all of it puts you in a premium category or a hobby category. Real photos of you doing the work, three to five client stories, a services page that lays things out plainly, and a contact page that makes booking a call the obvious next step. In the training I walk through Corey's site, Michael's, Jeff's, and Mark's, so you can see what this looks like when it's done.

Your content and distribution. This is the piece that brings the opportunities to your door instead of you chasing them. Mark posts consistently to laundromat owners, leads the conversation in that world, and recently locked in his second coaching client from it. Then he can mail his book to a prospect with a note that says let's do twenty minutes, and the relationship is already warm because they've been reading him for months.

When those three line up, the book stops being a thing you published and starts being the reason people call you. When any one of them is missing, the other two don't do much.

Watch it

The training runs through all of it with real examples on screen, and there's a free LinkedIn profile checklist in the description with 40-plus templated posts you can use right away.

If you'd rather not do this alone

Book a free online presence assessment off my website and we'll walk through your offer, your packaging, and your content together. If it makes sense to work together after that, the Pro, Boost, and Ultra packs are built for exactly this.
