The Power of Speaking for Authors

If you’re not leveraging speaking as an author, you’re missing out on some opportunities.

I started back in 2010 by speaking to high school students, merely sharing my story from Refugee to Entrepreneur.

Sharing that story was complex; over time, though, I learned that I wasn't sharing my story; I was sharing stories of other immigrants and refugee kids sitting right in front of me.

One of the best feelings in life, I think, is feeling heard, feeling seen, and feeling like I can relate to someone on a deep level.

For a long time, I was ashamed of who I was and where I was from.

Speaking broke that mold and opened so many doors.

Most authors seek opportunities to speak and get paid for it.

I spoke for over seven years for free while I built on the craft.

Being paid to speak is a privilege, and once I published my book, I was able to 5x what I charged.

These opportunities are great, and I did that by building an online presence and positioning my brand.

Using my book has been a huge game changer in that I primarily use it to send it as a gift to people who would potentially find it exciting and would need a speaker.

The key is building a system for this so that you can stay consistent and not merely rely on hoping someone will find you.

But before you set up a system do this one thing.

Know your audience and who puts people like you in front of them.

If you need help with creating a system to be able to do this, message me, I would love to help.
