Posting Isn’t Enough: How Real Engagement Builds Author Authority

You're next post may change the game for you.

However, you need to do something far more important first.

You see, the next big opportunity won’t come from a post—it will come from a conversation.

Here’s how to actually build visibility, credibility, and authority.

Find the right people to engage with.

Who do you want to eventually see your work and messaging?

Follow them.

See what they’re talking about.

Get in the conversation.

Engage with Depth – “Love this” and “Great post” won’t get you noticed.

Ask real questions.

Add meaningful insights.

Give people a reason to remember you.

Be Consistent – The more you show up in the right places, the more people will recognize your name.

That’s how trust is built—long before they ever visit your profile.

Make the Ask—Without Selling – Engage first, then offer value.

When the timing is right, a simple “I can help with that” can lead to real business.

I’ve built my entire network this way.

And I see authors struggle every day because they skip this step.

Your book can open doors, but only if people know who you are.

And they won’t know who you are if you’re just posting into the void.

Start engaging.

Start making real connections.

That’s how expert authors get booked, hired, and seen.

I break this down further in this video.

Enjoy!
