Rising Authors on the Road: A Sneak Peek into the Podcast's Next Chapter

Sometimes we don't need new; we need to make what we already have better

I used the Van to sell merch for my original business. Something fun to go to different events and pop up.

Then, the pandemic...

It sat sad and unused, so I decided to start a podcast called Art of Resilience in January 2021 out of My VW Van out of necessity to start growing an audience, meet people, and share stories.

It was still early after the Pandemic, so getting people in a small space and talking was still rough. I knew I had a good idea, but it was a ton of work, and I honestly had no idea what I was doing.

It was pure experimentation.

Though the Idea was fun and could potentially grow, I made the mistake of having a theme that was more around ME and MY BOOK.

Three months in and roughly eight episodes later, I abruptly moved from Portland, Oregon, down to Arizona.

I had to pause the podcast show and leave the van in Portland at my brother's house.

I knew I would bring the Podcast Back, but I also knew I had much to learn to produce the next iteration.

After settling in Arizona, I got to work, honing a new craft, Video.
I spent endless hours making videos on YouTube and learning the craft of editing, lighting, and sound.

I didn't want to be an expert; I merely wanted to understand the basics to have a foundation of what to improve over time.

I learned the importance of having many things work together for a successful channel that can slowly grow.

Thumbnails, Titles, Keywords, SEO, Video Editing, Storytelling, Getting over Camera Shyness, and experimenting, all while realizing something even bigger...

The new podcast concept began to brew when I launched Rising Authors after being laid off.

Make the new podcast show all about THEM - Authors are who I want to work with and connect with. I realized That's who I want to make it about.

That's when I also realized I couldn't sell the Van it was meant for a bigger purpose.

The next iteration of the Podcast Show is going to be amazing.

Having learned so much, I can now Improve the show and bring forth something worthwhile to watch and listen to.

I can't wait to start booking authors for interviews!

Here's a quick update of what I'll be working on in the months to come preparing the Van/Studio for a Road Trip!
