Let’s talk about ghosting and how it’s become a real issue, especially in the publishing industry.
Let’s talk about ghosting and how it’s become a real issue, especially in the publishing industry.
My friend Natasha Tynes shared about this other day and I wanted to double down on it.
It’s great that your book is about leadership, entrepreneurship, or your unique passion.
But here’s a chance to show how awesome you are by living out the values you’re writing about.
Responding with integrity is more important than the book itself.
When you reach out to someone for a proposal, and they take the time to carefully tailor it to your needs, that effort reflects hours of work.
Sometimes the proposal isn’t what you expected, the price may seem high, or the timing just isn’t right. That’s okay.
But it’s your responsibility to respond. A simple, honest reply shows respect and professionalism.
Don’t ghost people who’ve worked hard to earn your business.
Respect goes both ways.
When you treat others how you want to be treated, you embody the values of your work.
Ghosting is disrespectful, and if you don’t want it to happen to you, don’t do it to others.
Not every fit is perfect, and that’s fine.
Just have the courage to let them know.
It’s the professional thing to do.
