Keep Going
A friendly reminder.
It is ok if you slip. It is ok if you miss a post, fall behind on your manuscript, or lose the rhythm you had going.
What matters is that you come back to it.
I have sent this newsletter every week for a long stretch now, and there were plenty of weeks I almost skipped it. What kept me honest was the deadline itself. A standing commitment does more for your discipline than motivation ever will.
Today was one of those days where I just needed a keep going message. So, I thought maybe you need it too.
The same is true for your book, your brand, your business. Resilience is not about never falling off track. It is about returning to what matters every single time you do. That is where the growth actually happens.
So, if you are in a messy season right now, do not overthink it. Rest when you need to. Reflect when you can. Then open the document, or the spreadsheet, or the outline, and keep going.
At Author X Brand Camp, Emily Gindlesparger gave a talk about the stories we bury.
Her point was simple, and it has stuck with me since. Most people treat their own life the way they treat Netflix. They scroll past the story that actually matters, the one with weight in it, and land on something safer to watch instead. The hard chapter. The failure. The thing that still stings a little to talk about. That is the one we skip.
Here's the full video, I think it's worth a watch!
New From the Podcast
Marisa Solís and Elizabeth Dougherty , Book Structure Pros
Marisa and Elizabeth cofounded Book Structure Pros and just released their own book, The Complete Expert to Author Guide. On the episode, Elizabeth talked about a client who kept writing through her own divorce because the manuscript was the one thing left that still belonged to her. Marisa talked about finishing her half of their book while evacuated from her home for months. Their core teaching: stop asking what your book is about. Start asking who it is for.
Keep Going
Whatever you are building, the book, the brand, the business, it will not always feel like progress. Some weeks it will feel like spreadsheets and follow up emails. That is still progress.
Keep going. Keep sending the emails. Keep showing up to the page. Keep a little perspective on the days it is hard.
If You Need Support
If any of this is landing and you are staring at your own book or your own brand wondering what the next step actually is, message me. That is what Rising Authors does. We help authors get clear on the one story worth telling, and build the brand around it that makes the rest of the work easier.
See you next week.
