From Author to Speaker: Build Connections with Your Book
If you've published a book in the last few months, do this one thing.
Stop trying to sell it.
Think of ways you can give 5 - 100 at once.
What do I mean?
There are a million summits, conferences, retreats, and workshop events happening almost every month.
Who would benefit from you and your book?
Contact those running those events and ask if attendees would like a book in a goodie bag.
You now have their attention.
Build a relationship on that, and see if they still need a speaker or a breakout workshop you can put on.
Instead of selling one book, market yourself as the go-to expert for x and sell your speaking service for 10x what a book costs.
It's the same amount of energy with a higher return.
The key here is to build relationships with those running events.
Build relationships with other speakers and authors and seek opportunities that fit the highly interested audience in your book.
This, of course, takes time, but it sure beats trying to sell one book at a time.
I love speaking at schools. It fulfills my work and mission.
I got to speak last week, set up the camera for a talk, and created pure gold content for my brand and work.
I gave away about 10 books and so many students came up after and gave me that reassurance that my message resonated and they are more hopeful for there future.
That means the world to me.
This event opened up another opportunity for a future event.
Put effort into what matters more to you.
