Crafting Meaningful Connections: Beyond the Book Launch

Three weeks before the book launch, you realize you need a website, an audience, an email list, a strategy, and post more on social media to help promote the launch of a book.

Tough. That’s a daunting task.

Here's some honest truth.

All of those things only matter if you have a legit understanding of what you actually want, what the book will do for you and who it's for.

People buy from people, stories, and solutions to their problems. They will also buy based on "social currency."

ex: The new Star Wars Movie is out; I need to go see it, because my friend told me it was a must-watch and how it's the same but different...

To impact social currency, you need to craft and build a story with a reason other than that you're launching a book.

For me, it was launching a campaign called the Run/ Walk for Refugees in 2021 and 2022 during World Refugee Week. The concept was to get people to sign up, and be a part of a walk in their own community, and the proceeds went to local nonprofits that work with refugees.

When they purchased a "Ref-u-tee Pack," they also got a copy of my book.
The story wasn't just about my book; rather, my book was a part of something bigger.

Tons of sponsors and people joined, and it got people talking about the event, and people would ask one another if they were going. I also encouraged buying multiple packs for teams at a discount so they can encourage friends and family to join.

A message about raising awareness for the Refugee Crisis that sadly continues to unfold.

So we gathered hundreds of people in multiple states where organizers used a few resources and some t-shirts and rallied their teams, friends, and family to join them on a walk.

People rallied around the book's core message and took action in their respective communities to share in that message.

This was so memorable and great we did it two years in a row, and I hope to bring it back soon!

I did a whole video ( please forgive me WACK editing skills ) to share about the whole event and how it all came together.
